Andhra Pradesh Grameena Vikas Bank, India Hacked by Xploiters Crew

The official website of Andhra Pradesh Grameena Vikas Bank, India (APGVB) has been hacked by two Pakistani Hackers Xploiter and Dr Freak from the group Xploiters Crew. The website is up and restored now.

The Bank Hackers Xploiter and Dr.Freak Hit Again. This time, Not a Pakistani Bank is Hacked But hackers attacked on the Indian Bank Andhra Pradesh Grameena Vikas Bank, which is sponsored by State Bank of India.

The same hacker hacked major Pakistani Bank websites which include Allied Bank Limited, Habib Bank Limited, Soneri Bank, Muslim Commercial Bank and Tameer Microfinance Bank. It seems that now hacker started hacking bank sites in other countries.

It's unclear how much damage is done by the hackers to the Bank. But Its clear from the hack that Hackers found and exploited SQL Injection vulnerability in the website and managed to upload the deface message on the page. Below is the screenshot of the hacked page.

Hundreds of Indian web sites hacked by Pak Haxors Crew on Independence day of Pakistan

A Pakistani hacker with the handle Hasnain Haxor hacked and defaced 700+ Indian websites on Pakistan's Independence Day.

The anatomy of the attack is unknown. It looks like hacker got full access to the shared hosting server and defaced all the sites on the server. The different hacked sites belong to Indian media, IT companies, business and Indian institutes.

This is not the first time, Hasnain Hacker hacked such a huge list of sites, some days before Indira Gandhi International airport website and 800+ other websites hacked by the same hacker.

New York Post and SocialFlow Twitter & Facebook accounts Hacked by Syrian Electronic Army

The Pro Syrian Hacking Group Syrian Electronic Army (SEA)  attacks on twitter accounts again, this time #SEA not only hacked twitter account but also the Facebook account of the New York Post.

SEA also hacked twitter account of SocialFlow and tweeted "Syrian Electronic Army was here".

Syrian Electronic Army(SEA) not only hacked these two accounts but they also hacked many Twitter accounts belonging to journalists, posted messages saying “The Syrian Electronic Army Was Here”

Mike Puma is the one Amongst the victims, who covers the NY Mets baseball team for the newspaper..

Twitter account(@JReidPost) belonging to the Washington Post sports columnist "Jason Reid" also got hacked and posted the same tweet "Syrian Electronic Army was here".

Both the New York Post and SocialFlow admitted that their accounts have been compromised. Although the newspaper has not seemingly officially acknowledged that the hack occurred, their social media partners admitted that one of their staff had their email account breached by hackers who had tricked them into handing over passwords in a phishing attack.

FinSpy surveillance software by Gamma Group that surveil activitists

FinSpy surveillance software, marketed worldwide to law enforcement agencies as a way to monitor criminals, is widely used by repressive governments to spy on human rights groups. It is currently used in around 25 countries including US.

The report by researchers at the Citizen Lab at the University of Toronto found the software is "regularly sold to countries where dissenting political activity and speech is criminalized."

What FinSpy Does?
FinSpy, is a surveillance tool that infects computers to capture screenshots, log keystrokes, record Skype conversations and activate cameras and microphones. Gamma Group, a British company, makes the software and markets it to law enforcement agencies as a lawful way to monitor criminals.

How it Infect Internet Users:
The surveillance suite is installed after the target accepts installation of a fake update to commonly used software. Code which will install the malware has also been detected in emails. The software, which is designed to evade detection by anti-virus software, has versions which work on mobile phones of all major brands.
A security flaw in Apple's iTunes allowed unauthorized third parties to use iTunes online update procedures to install unauthorized programs. Gamma International offered presentations to government security officials at security software trade shows where they described how to covertly install the FinFisher spy software on suspect's computers using iTunes' update procedures.

Firefox Masquerading
FinFisher is capable of masquerading as other more legitimate programs, such as Mozilla Firefox. On April 30, 2013, Mozilla announced that they had sent Gamma a cease-and-desist letter for trademark infringement. Gamma had created an espionage program that was entitled firefox.exe and even provided a version number and trademark claims to appear to be legitimate Firefox software.

Martin J. Muench, a Gamma Group managing director, told The New York Times that FinSpy was used mostly “against pedophiles, terrorists, organized crime, kidnapping and human trafficking." He declined to disclose which countries had bought the software.

But security researchers say FinSpy is used by governments around the world for broader purposes. Last year, Citizen Lab researchers found that the government in Bahrain had used FinSpy to target activists in that country.

"Our findings highlight the increasing dissonance between Gamma’s public claims that FinSpy is used exclusively to track 'bad guys' and the growing body of evidence suggesting that the tool has and continues to be used against opposition groups and human rights activists," the researchers wrote.

TorrentFreak blocked by UK ISP SKY for Privacy

TorrentFreak - a latest news reporting and file sharing site is blocked by British ISP Sky. The four million customers of the popular British ISP Sky are reporting trouble accessing TorrentFreak.

Sky has not blocked the site deliberately. Instead, TorrentFreak has really been made inaccessible by EZTV.it, the popular torrent site that’s being blocked by six UK ISPs in response to a High Court ruling.

EZTV utilized Geo DNS to redirect its UK visitors to TorrentFreak.com. Nonetheless, a fault in Sky’s filtering scheme makes any site that’s added to EZTV’s DNS inaccessible to customers.

For research purposes, EZTV even attempted to add some of Facebook’s IP addresses to their DNS. However, it didn’t work, possibly because of the wide range of IPs.

“It appears that Sky’s filtering system blocks any and all IP-addresses that EZTV adds to their DNS. This essentially means that EZTV, or any other blocked site, has the power to render entire websites inaccessible to Sky subscribers. Luckily we were the target and not Google,” TorrentFreak noted.

It seems only Sky is using this filtering system, since the news website can be accessed by the customers of other ISPs around the world.

Unfortunately, Sky isn’t in a hurry to amend the problem, TorrentFreak says. Even so, EZTV will get rid of the sites IPs from its DNS to allow users to access it.

Pakistan Intelligence Agency ISI hacks India's largest telco BSNL Systems by Social Engineering

Pakistan’s top secret intelligence agency- ISI has successfully penetrated and snooped Indian state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) and also installed spyware in the Telco’s system to take control of its entire system, According to Indian Publisher Livemint.

The Indian secret agency believes that someone from Pakistan posing as Major Vijay from Indian Army headquarters had called up a BSNL employee in February this year, and followed it up by email communication with the staffer to obtain critical information.

"This is not the first time that Indians have alleged Pakistan and its ISI just to spoil the names and to cover its own misdeeds." Aamir Ata writes on ProPakistani.

According to the report, Indian home ministry is fearing that the spyware might have enabled ISI to identify and access communication links of sensitive organizations.

Furthermore, the report suggests that the same malware might have given Pakistan the ability to remotely monitor BSNL’s networks and operations, providing the ISI with the capability of disabling critical networks.

According to reports – which is based on documents released by Indian secret agency – said that ISI operative used VoIP spoofing to change the number when he called BSNL employee.BGR india writes.

Moreover, report doesn’t clarify that why BSNL employee didn’t notify his line manager before giving out sensitive information – that could give away controlling rights of the entire telco – to an unknown army officer, with whom he/she was communicating for the first time.

It will be interesting to mention here that Indian army and secret agencies earlier this year mistook two planets for Chinese spy drones.  Indian Army, reportedly, spent six months watching “Chinese spy drones” violating its air space, only to find out they were actually Jupiter and Venus.
