#CISPABlackout: Copyright.Gov Taken down by Anonymous Hackers

  • Anonymous hackers taken down the official US Copyright Office website (Copyright.Gov) under  #CISPABlackout, #StopCISPA, The operation initiated by Anonymous hackers to Stop CISPA Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act) and Anonymous called 22 April an Internet Blackout day against CISPA.

    Many of the websites are being hacked to protest CISPA but anonymous hackers hit with a big bang and taken down the US Copyright website - the official US government body that maintains records of copyright  registration in the United States. 


    Many of the websites around the world of different niche protesting against CISPA under #CISPABlackout and #StopCISPA on Anonymous call. Anonymous also defaced their own website for #CISPABlackout.

    About US Copyright Office:
    The United States Copyright Office, a part of the Library of Congress, is the official U.S. government body that maintains records of copyright registration in the United States. It is used by copyright title searchers who are attempting to clear a chain of title for copyrighted works. The head of the Copyright Office is called the Register of Copyrights. The current Register is Maria Pallante, who has held the office since 2011.
    The Copyright Office is housed on the fourth floor of the James Madison Memorial Building of the Library of Congress, at 101 Independence Avenue, SE, in Washington, DC.

    At the time of writing, the website was down.
