Ubuntu Forum Hacked by Sputn1k_, over 1.8 million email and password stolen

  • Ubuntu Forum Hacked by Sputn1k_ with over 1.8 million user email and password stolen by the hacker. Change your Ubuntu Forum password immediately.


    Canonical, Linux based operating system Ubuntu distro lead developers admitted that its online forum not just defaced but also hacker accessed and stole the 1.8 million users data (username, emails and passwords) from Ubuntu forum database.

    Message left by the hacker on the deface page:
    "None of this "y3w g0t haxd by albani4 c3bir 4rmy" stuff.  Straight up, you dun goofed.  It's as simple as that" 

    Website is still down after being hacked. While visiting the website, it redirect to annount.html page.

    Canonical urged the users to change the password immediately belonging to Ubuntu Forum, although passwords were not stored in plain text. The company also added that Ubuntu One, Launchpad and other services were not affected.
