Official AVG South Africa Website Hacked by Over-X

  • An infamous Algerian HackerOver-X has hacked and defaced the Official AVG South Africa Website (www.avgsoftware.co.za). The website is still defaced, showing License details of AVG Products.


    Over-X Told THP that reason of hacking was to get license keys of AVG Products. Yesterday, we reported same hacker hacked Cigarette Brand & Nestle Israel websites.

    Anatomy of an attack is not known. But it is clear, The hacker managed to upload a shell on the server, dumped the database and deface the website.

    The Deface Page shows the some of the leaked database containing AVG Product Code, Product Name, Sales Number, Validity and License Numbers.

    At the time of writing, both of the sites was defaced and showing the message left by the hackers.

    If you are using AVG then, you must have a subscription due to which you are completely protected. If you want to cancel AVG Subscription then, login to your AVG Account by using the link avg.com. Now, choose the Subscriptions tile and then, click on Unsubscribe appears under the subscription which you want to cancel. Choose Unsubscribe from the future renewals and then, let “My subscription” expire on (selected date), and then, click on Confirm and click on Got it.
